Investing Online ISA UK

Investing online ISA UK provides investors with an individual savings account that has special tax advantages.

The ISA itself is nothing more than a vehicle with which you can hold shares, funds (unit trusts and OEICs) and cash investments.

ISAs are really a UK government approved way of earning a tax-efficient return on your investments.

Because these investment vehicles have special tax privileges there is a limit to the amount you can invest annually in cash, shares, and/or funds.

You can, however, invest your annual allowance with one or several providers.

Generally speaking, all the investments you hold inside a certain ISA vehicle are treated in a particular way.

So, if the vehicle has special tax advantages, all the investments inside it share those same tax advantages.

In the context of the official ISA language, these vehicles are called 'wrappers', and when people talk about 'wrapped' or 'unwrapped' investments, 'unwrapped' investments are just ordinary investments without any special tax treatment.

ISAs can help you protect your investment returns from tax, which is particularly useful if you are a higher rate tax payer.

The exact rules around the tax benefits change over the years, and have to do with capital gains tax and income taxation.

There are two types of ISAs: Maxi ISA, under which you put a larger sum into just one such vehicle in a given year.

Mini ISA, under which you are allowed to do more smaller investments into several such vehicles.

To investing online ISA UK, most of the ISA providers allow you to manage your ISA account online.

ISA providers in the UK include:

Invesco Perpetual offers stocks and shares ISAs, cash ISAs, PEP transfers and ISA transfers. For your comfort, they have on-line valuation services so you can easily keep track of your investments.

Jupiter, another ISA provider, has a wide range of investment products including unit trusts, ISAs, PEPs, and investment trusts.

The Halifax ISA Investor has an UK FTSE 100 Index Tracking Fund, a stocks and shares ISA, which aims to match, as closely as possible the performance of the FTSE 100 Index.

Virgin Money ISAs are among the most popular choices in this investment category.
