0 credit card
0 credit cards are a relatively new phenomena, and it was only a short time ago when it was nearly unthinkable for a financial institution to give out a credit card with an interest rate of 0%, even for an introductory period.
However, increased competition from such companies as Capital One and others have lowered introductory interest rate offers from initial “low” introductory offers of 10% APR to the situation now, where zero percent APR intro offers are commonplace.
Another macroeconomic trend of low overall interest rates has allowed financial firms to offer 0% percent APR financing on the outstanding credit card balance.
At first, these rates were available for a very short period of time. Now, introductory periods ranging from 3 to 6 months (and even longer) are typical and expected.
There are certain things to consider when applying for a 0 credit card.
For one, very few credit cards do offer a zero percent interest rate that also applies to cash advances.
Cash advances typically are charged at a rate that is higher than the standard APR. However, consult your financial institution and your credit card agreement before making any judgments whether this is the case in your situation.
Also, if you plan to make expensive purchases and would like to spread or delay paying for goods you need, your situation would typically require a card that has 0% on purchases rather than balance transfers.
