investment books

Investment books are regularly targeted at giving advice on one specific market area, such as the stock market or forex trading.

However, there are books that handle the investments from a wider perspective, giving emphasis to all aspects of investing, including risk management and long-term planning.

If you're interested in getting a wider perspective on investing, browsing through the "required reading" sections at business school class descriptions is a good place to start.

The books used on many of the elementary classes at business schools give a thorough, well-researched and effective education on the different investment markets and how to operate in these markets.

Also, if you have a particular market in mind, you should look up books that handle the basics of trading and investing in those markets in particular as there are great differences between different markets.

For example, foreign exchange markets operate and the products are mostly valued far differently from, say, the stock market.

Available Investment Books

Apart from the academical books on investing and investments, there are books that have been written for everyday investor, to make the markets easier to approach and to profit from.

What most of the investment books teach is a particular investing strategy.

The strategy may include rules and descriptions on how to value investment products, what tactics to use when buying/selling a product, and how to diversify risk (not all strategies diversify risk, however), for example.

Before you choose a particular strategy or approach to investing, you should probably educate yourself about how the market(s) work.

For this purpose, there are such books available as:

  • The Stock Market by Richard J. Teweles, Edward S. Bradley
  • Bond Markets : Analysis and Strategies by Frank J. Fabozzi
  • Options, Futures, and Other Derivatives by John C. Hull
  • Investing in Real Estate by Andrew McLean, Gary W. Eldred
  • All About Commoditites: From Inside Out by Thomas A. McCafferty, Russell R., Sr. Wasendorf
  • Trading in the Global Currency Markets by Cornelius Luca
