online cfd brokers

Online CFD brokers offer an easy access to the Contracts of Difference market, which is one of the latest innovations in the derivatives market.

The "CFDs", or "Contracts for Difference", were developed to allow brokerage clients to receive all the benefits of owning a stock without having to physically own the stock itself.

CFD is a non-exchange traded product with that corralate with the price of the underlying instrument, which are many times stocks traded in stock exchanges.

Also, the prices of CFDs change in reflection to share dividends, bonuses and stock splits.

With CFD it is as easy to go short as it is to go long as no actual shares are bought or sold.

In addition, the possibilities for financial leverage exist in the CFD market.

In addition to individual shares, there are commonly also CFDs for indices, futures, commodities, and other similar products.

Available Online CFD Brokers

Because the CFDs were very much an innovation of the brokerage industry in response to client demands, there are now lots of brokers that offer CFDs.

Online brokerages with CFD products include:

  • IG Markets (igmarkets.com)
  • Saxo Bank (saxobank.com)
  • GCI Financial (gcitrading.com)

Keep in mind that the brokerages may restrict the possibility to open an account depending on the geographical area of the client in question.

For example, according to iDealing research, the private CFD market has seen aggressive growth in the UK in the last couple of years.

However, many of the online UK CFD brokerages won't take U.S. customers, partly because of the differences in financial market regulation between Europe and the U.S.
