stock market closing prices

Depending on your needs, you can access stock market closing prices for current day or historical closing prices.

Before you start your research on closing prices, you should note that not all closing prices are the same.

The differences between different closing prices are explained at, for example:

  • sec.gov/answers/closepr.htm

Some of the best resources to get this end-of-the-day data are the exchanges themselves.

The pros of using these exchanges (their web sites) to access the information, is that these are the direct sources of such price information.

You'll also be aware of the other exchange related news (such as upcoming listings or regulatory changes), if you regularly browse through the news section of such sites.

There are hundreds of exchanges in the world, and you can find web sites for most of them.

For example, finix.at/fin/selinks.html has links to 145 different exchanges in the world, most of them dealing with stocks.

Stock Market Closing Prices - U.S Providers

If you focus your search a bit to the local stock exchanges, you can find closing prices from several resources, most with added analysis.

For example, the major financial information providers, Reuters and Bloomberg, offer closing prices through their web sites, located at bloomberg.com and reuters.com.

In addition, you can find historical and current closing prices from such great sites as finance.yahoo.com.

For other regions, there are finance.yahoo.ca, and finance.yahoo.co.uk, for example.
