Exchange Rates Today
To find exchange rates today, with the most current information, you should look up some of the resources close to brokerages, that use intraday currency prices.
Exchange rates are determined in a continuous (24 hrs) trading from Monday to Friday. Therefore, live quotes are available throughout the working week.
The services that offer the most recent quotes have three main ways to display the data:
- Bid rate
- Ask rate
- Mid-market rate
The bid rate is the latest rate at which the currency is offered to be bought in the continuous forex market trading. The ask rate is the rate at which the trader is willing to sell the currency. The difference between these two is known as “spread”.
The mid-market rate is just the mid-point between the ask and bid rate.
Exchange Rates Today – Providers
Services that offer live rates normally use third party services to stream the quotes. These streams come from such established data providers as Reuters and others.
Many of these services offer mid-market rates. Also, because the forex market can be very volatile at times, the rate at which you could buy/sell currency at the interbank market might differ considerably from the indicated price, despite being quoted in real-time.
As an exemplary list, the following companies offer current rates during the trading hours:
- xe.com/ucc/ (live mid-market rates)
- finance.yahoo.com/m3?u (quotes from Reuters)
- oanda.com/convert/classic
