G7 Currencies
G7 currencies are the currencies used in the original G7 countries, United States of America, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, United Kingdom, and Canada.
The G7 (or G-7 or Group of Seven) is a meeting of the finance ministers from the group of seven industrialized nations of the world.
Originally, all the seven countries had their own currencies and these currencies were seen as the most important currencies in the world.
Originally the currencies for the G7 were: United States Dollar, French Franc, German Mark, Italian Lira, Japanese Yen, UK Pound, and the Canadian Dollar.
Since the formation of the G7 in 1976, however, there have been changes in how these countries handle their monetary policy and in their use of a national currency.
Most importantly, the French, Italian, and German currencies have been replaced by the Euro since the year 2000.
There have also been discussion about the role of the G7 currencies in a changing world.
Many analysts think that the most important currency list should include such emerging currencies as Indian Rupee and the Chinese Renminbi.
Some also consider Brazilian Real and the Russian Ruble to be some of the contenders to the most important currencies.
